About Neodymium Scandate

American Elements manufactures Neodymium Scandate (Neodymium Scandium Oxide) in both research and bulk quantities. American Elements produces materials to many standard grades when applicable including Mil Spec (military grade), ACS, Reagent and Technical Grades; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grades, Optical, Semiconductor, and Electronics Grades, and follows applicable USP, EP/BP, and ASTM testing standards. Most materials can be produced in high and ultra high purity forms (99%, 99.9%, 99.99%, 99.999%, and higher). Standard and custom packaging is available. Additional technical, research and safety (SDS) information is available. Please request a quote above to receive pricing information based on your specifications.

Packaging Specifications

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Shipping documentation includes a Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes, and 36,000 lb. tanker trucks.

Neodymium Bohr ModelThe number of electrons in each of Neodymium's shells is 2, 8, 18, 22, 8, 2 and its electron configuration is [Xe] 4f4 6s2. The neodymium atom has a radius of 181 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 229 pm. Neodymium was first discovered by Carl Aer von Welsbach in 1885. In its elemental form, neodymium has a silvery-white appearance. Neodymium is the most abundant of the rare earths after cerium and lanthanum. Neodymium is found in monazite and bastnäsite ores. It is used to make high-strength neodymium magnets and laser crystal substances like neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (also known as Nd:YAG). The name originates from the Greek words neos didymos, meaning new twin.

Scandium

The number of electrons in each of Scandium's shells is [2, 8, 9, 2] and its electron configuration is [Ar] 3d1 4s2. Scandium Bohr Model The scandium atom has a radius of 162 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 216 pm.Scandium was predicted by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1871 and actually discovered and isolated by Lars Nilson in 1879. One of the transition metals, scandium has a silvery-white appearance in its elemental form which oxidizes to yellow or pinkish upon contact with air. Elemental ScandiumIt is occasionally included in the classification of the rare earth elements. Scandium is found in concentrated amounts in the minerals euxenite, gadolinite and thortveitite however, due to the difficulties in the preparation of metallic scandium, global trade of the pure metal is very limited. The origin of the name scandium comes from the Latin word 'scandia' meaning Scandinavia.
