AMERICAN ELEMENTS ANNOUNCES TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH IN TITANIUM 6AL-4V PRODUCTION AND NEW ULTRA LIGHT HIGH TENSILE STRENGTH FOIL FOR AEROSPACE AND MILITARY APPLICATIONS

[ February 6, 2007, Los Angeles, CA ] American Elements announced today the development of a new proprietary production scheme for fabrication of 6AL-4V titanium foil (Grade 5).

Due to its high strength, toughness at extreme temperatures, corrosion resistance and low weight, Titanium 6Al-4V (titanium-aluminum-vanadium alloy) is the most widely used titanium alloy. It accounts for almost 50% of all alloys used in aircraft applications.

Until now Titanium 6AL/4V foil was unavailable because its high strength and low ductility (stiffness) prevented commercial fabrication utilizing existing technologies. American Elements novel means of production manufactures foil in thicknesses as low as 0.005” with a tolerance of +/- 0.0002”.

In addition to aircraft applications American Elements’ new Titanium 6Al4V foil is expected to have important potential uses in numerous military applications, spacecraft, armor plating, naval ships, electronics, missiles, medical devices, premium sports equipment and consumer electronics.

These foils are available in bulk quantities as well as laboratory quantities for university and corporate R&D applications.
