About Rhodium Tape

Rhodium Tape Rhodium Tape is commonly used as a strong light weight outer coating. Additionally, tapes can serve as adhesives that bond two objects together. American Elements produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopeia/British Pharmacopeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. American Elements specializes in producing Rhodium High Purity Tape and sheets in many thicknesses and sizes for numerous industrial uses and provides health and occupational safety information for this product. Most tapes are produced from cast ingots for use in coating and thin film Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes including Thermal and Electron Beam (E-Beam) Evaporation, Low Temperature Organic Evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Organometallic and Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) for specific applications such as fuel cells and solar energy. Rhodium Tape is usually in the form of long, thin, rolled metal rhodium strips. Thickness can range from 0.003" to approximately 2mm for all metals. Some metals can also be rolled down as thin as 0.001" for use as an evaporation source in microelectronics, optics, magnetics, MEMS, and hard resistant coatings. Piece sizes are available up to approximately 7" maximum width. Maximum lengths of about 20" can be obtained with a nominal thickness between about 0.005" and 0.020" for thin film deposition on glass or metal substrates. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation. American Elements specializes in producing custom compositions for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. American Elements also casts any of the rare earth metals and most other advanced materials into rod, bar, or plate form, as well as other machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. We also produce Rhodium as rods, powder and plates. Other shapes are available by request. Rhodium Tape is used as a protective coating on a wide variety of materials. Tape is also used in packaging applications.

Packaging Specifications

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Shipping documentation includes a Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes, and 36,000 lb. tanker trucks.

Rhodium Bohr ModelThe number of electrons in each of Rhodium's shells is [2, 8, 18, 16, 1] and its electron configuration is [Kr] 4d8 5s1. The rhodium atom has a radius of 134 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 195 pm. Rhodium was discovered and first isolated by William Wollaston in 1804. In its elemental form, rhodium has a silvery white metallic appearance. Elemental RhodiumRhodium is a member of the platinum group of metals. It has a higher melting point than platinum, but a lower density. Rhodium is found in ores mixed with other metals such as palladium, silver, platinum, and gold. Rhodium is primarily used as the catalyst in the three-way catalytic converters of automobiles it is also highly valued in jewelry. The name Rhodium originates from the Greek word 'Rhodon,' which means rose.
