Absorption over along period may cause "Argyria", a blue/grey discolouration of various tissues. Industrial argyria may be local, involving the formation of blue/grey particles in the skinand the conjunctivae, or generalised, which appears early on the face, spreading to the hands. This is only normally manifested after many years of gross over-exposure. Ingestion will cause violent abdominal pain and vomiting.
