About Terbium Cylinder

99.9% high purity metallic cylinderAmerican Elements specializes in producing high purity uniform shaped Terbium Cylinders available in a wide range of sizes. We can also provide cylinders and deposition materials for specific applications such as fuel cells and solar energy and for thin film deposition on glass or metal substrates. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation. American Elements specializes in producing custom compositions for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. American Elements casts any of the rare earth metals and most other advanced materials into rod, bar, or plate form, as well as other machined shapes. We have a variety of standard sized rod molds. We also produce Terbium as powder, ingot, pieces, pellets, disc, granules, wire, and in compound forms, such as oxide. Other shapes are available by request.

The terbium atom has a radius of 177 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 221 pm.Terbium was discovered and first isolated by Carl Gustaf Mosander in 1842. In its elemental form, terbium is a silvery-white soft metal. Terbium is found in cerite, gadolinite, and monazite. It is not found in nature as a free element. Elemental TerbiumTerbium compounds are brightly fluorescent, and a majority of the world's terbium supply is used for creating green phosphors that enable trichromatic lighting technology. It is also frequently used as a dopant for crystalline solid-state devices and fuel cell materials. It is named after Ytterby, the town in Sweden where it was discovered.
