About Cobalt Spring

Cobalt SpringThe most common type of spring is the coil spring; however, a spring can be any elastic object that can store energy. Cobalt Springs are helix shaped springs that can store and release mechanical energy, absorb shock, or maintain a force between contacting surfaces. American Elements specializes in producing high purity uniform shaped Cobalt Spring with the highest possible density for use in semiconductor, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes including Thermal and Electron Beam (E-Beam) Evaporation, Low Temperature Organic Evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Metallic-Organic and Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD). Cobalt springs store and release mechanical energy, absorb shock, and conserve force between contacting surfaces. Our standard Metal Spring sizes range from 0.75 mm to 1 mm to 2 mm diameter with strict tolerances and alpha values (conductive resistance) for uses such as gas detection and thermometry tolerances . Please contact us to fabricate custom spring alloys and gauge sizes. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation. American Elements specializes in producing custom compositions for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. American Elements also casts any of the rare earth metals and most other advanced materials into rod, bar or plate form, as well as other machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. We can also provide Rod outside this range. We also produce Cobalt as powder, ingot, pieces, pellets, disc, granules and in compound forms, such as oxide. Other shapes are available by request. Cobalt springs can have several different purposes.

Cobalt

See more Cobalt products. Cobalt (atomic symbol: Co, atomic number: 27) is a Block D, Group 9, Period 4 element with an atomic weight of 58.933195. Cobalt Bohr ModelThe number of electrons in each of cobalt's shells is 2, 8, 15, 2 and its electron configuration is [Ar]3d7 4s2. The cobalt atom has a radius of 125 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 192 pm. Cobalt was first discovered by George Brandt in 1732. In its elemental form, cobalt has a lustrous gray appearance. Cobalt is found in cobaltite, erythrite, glaucodot and skutterudite ores. Elemental CobaltCobalt produces brilliant blue pigments which have been used since ancient times to color paint and glass. Cobalt is a ferromagnetic metal and is used primarily in the production of magnetic and high-strength superalloys. Co-60, a commercially important radioisotope, is useful as a radioactive tracer and gamma ray source. The origin of the word Cobalt comes from the German word "Kobalt" or "Kobold," which translates as "goblin," "elf" or "evil spirit.
