About Dysprosium Tube

American Elements specializes in supplying seamless Dysprosium tubing with a variety of dimensions including round, rectangular, square, and Round Metallic Tubes--Selected Dimensionsoval in numerous standard diameters from 0.02 to 6.0 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.003 to 0.500 inches. Tubing can be further processed to produce rings, washers, sleeves and sheaths. Custom configurations are also available. Selected Ultra High Purity Metallic TubesMaterials include most metals including the rare earth metals and other advanced materials. Tubes can also be produced from custom alloys for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. Dysprosium metal is used in rare earth magnet alloys and magnesium alloys. Due to dysprosium and its compounds high susceptibility to magnetization, they are used in a variety of data storage applications, such as in compact discs. American Elements produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopeia/British Pharmacopeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Other available shapes include bar or plate form, as well as custom machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. We also produce Dysprosium as rod, pellets, powder, pieces, granules, ingot, wire, and in compound forms, such as oxide. Other shapes are available by request.

Dysprosium

See more Dysprosium products. Dysprosium (atomic symbol: Dy, atomic number: 66) is a Block F, Group 3, Period 6 element with an atomic radius of 162.5. Dysprosium Bohr ModelThe number of electrons in each of dysprosium's shells is [2, 8, 18, 28, 8, 2] and its electron configuration is [Xe]4f10 6s2. The dysprosium atom has an atomic radius of 178 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 229 pm. Dysprosium was first discovered by Paul Emile Lecoq de Boisbaudran in 1886. In its elemental form, dysprosium has a silvery-white appearance. Elemental Dysprosium PictureIt is a member of the lanthanide or rare earth series of elements and, along with holmium, has the highest magnetic strength of all other elements on the periodic table, especially at low temperatures. Dysprosium is found in various minerals including bastnäsite, blomstrandine, euxenite, fergusonite, gadolinite, monazite, polycrase and xenotime. It is not found in nature as a free element. The element name originates from the Greek word dysprositos, meaning hard to get at.
